Two Questions…

# 1: Guess who said this (I bet you’ll be surprised)…

Secularists are wrong when they ask believers to leave their religion at the door before entering into the public square. Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, William Jennings Bryan, Dorothy Day, Martin Luther King – indeed, the majority of great reformers in American history – were not only motivated by faith but repeatedly used religious language to argue for their cause. To say that men and women should not inject their ‘personal morality’ into public policy debates is a practical absurdity. Our law is by definition a codification of morality, much of it grounded in the Judeo-Christian tradition.

#2: Do you agree?

    1. I’m gonna guess Dawkins or Obama.

    2. yes.

  2. Ken Says:

    1. My first reaction was actually Mitt Romney, mostly just because he gave his “religion” speech during his campaign both defending and hedging against his Mormon beliefs. However since you bet I’ll be surprised would make me agree with Shanana and guess Obama.

    2. Yes.

  3. Bryce Says:

Ok, well I guess I’ll post the answer for those not curious enough to google it…It was apparently said by Obama, so good guessing. I can’t see either Dawkins or Romney uttering such a statement. Although I wouldn’t have guessed Obama would have said it either. And yes, I definitely agree.

  4. Shanana Says:

The reason for throwing Dawkins in there was because you said I’d be surprised. I had just read Obama’s book The Audacity of Hope when you posted this, and if you read it, you’ll see that this is pretty much Obama keeping on-message.
